A work permit is an official authorization that allows foreign nationals to work legally while in Canada. Each year, Canada grants approximately 500,000 work permits to temporary foreign workers from across the globe.

For many individuals seeking job opportunities, Canada stands out as a top destination. Gaining work experience in Canada can also serve as an important stepping stone for those aiming to immigrate permanently.

To obtain a work permit, most applicants need a Canadian job offer backed by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, there are exceptions where foreign nationals can apply for a work permit without an LMIA or a job offer. Examples include recent graduates from a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) or spouses of individuals already holding a Canadian work or study permit.
